Black Lightning is an American superhero-drama television series that premiered on The CW on January 16, 2018. The series was created by Salim Akil and developed by Mara Brock Akil. The series stars Cress Williams as the lead role Jefferson Pierce, who is forced to become a vigilante again following his nine-year retirement.

The first season aired on Tuesday nights from January 16 to April 17, 2018 at 9:00 p.m. following The Flash, with the average viewing numbers at 1.73 million.

On April 2, 2018, The CW renewed Black Lightning for a second season, which is scheduled to premiere during the 2018–19 broadcasting season.[1]
